Brett Michaels Ain’t Metal

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

So I normally don’t watch MTV, but I was channel surfing through the programming guide on the Satellite and saw Metal Mania on MTV.  Well, being a Metal Head I decided to stop and take a look, knowing that they rarely have anything good playing.  What did I see? I am sure from the title that you can guess, I saw Brett Michaels singing some new tune he has out now … sounds like some kind of rap song with guitars to me.  Anyway, the point is that Brett Michaels is NOT metal, he never has been metal, and he never will be metal.  He isn’t even Rock and Roll.  He is simply some guy made in the studio by a producer because “popular” music nowadays is all about the image the record company can sell rather than the music, and as long as the sheeple of America keep buying into whatever crap spews forth from their TV set because some guy on there says it’s cool, it won’t get any better.

In My Darkest Hour

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

In my hour of need
Ha [no] youre not there
And though I reached out for you
Wouldnt lend a hand.

Through the darkest hour
Grace did not shine on me
It feels so cold, very cold
No one cares for me.

Did you ever think I get lonely
Did you ever think that I needed love
Did you ever think to stop thinking
Youre the only one that Im thinking of.

Youll never know how hard I tried
To find my space and satisfy you too.

Things will be better when Im dead and gone
Dont try to understand, knowing you Im probably wrong.

But oh how I lived my life for you
Still youd turn away
Now as I die for you
My flesh still crawls as I breathe your name
All these years I thought I was wrong
Now I know it was you
Raise you head, raise your face your eyes
Tell me who you think you are, who?

I walk, I walk alone
Into the promised land.

Theres a better place for me
But its far, far away
Everlasting life for me
In a perfect world
But I gotta die first,
Please God send me on my way.

Time has a way of taking time
Loneliness is not only felt be fools
Alone I call to ease the pain
Yearning to be held by you, alone so alone, Im lost
Consumed by the pain
The pain, the pain, the pain.

Wont you hold me again
You just laughed, ha ha, bitch
My whole life is work built on the past
But the time has come when all things shall pass
This good thing passed away.

In my darkest hour.

~Thanks Dave

Stinky Spice

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

Hey, guess what? The Spice Girls are executing a reunion tour! OMG, like no way! Really, like totally! According to this article, they are still adding dates to the tour schedule! OMIGOSH!

*cough* Why? This group didn’t contribute anything good to music the first time around, so why the heck are they coming back. Just because one of them married a UK soccer player and someone, somewhere thinks they can make a reality show and reunion tour out of it? Oh come on, are people actually paying money to see this crap? Let me tell you what I want, what I really, really want. I want some people with talent and actual musical skill to get the big record deals, people like Jonathan Coulton, Will Kimbrough and Chris Barron. Talk about contributing truck loads of talent and good tunes to the musical world, these guys are but a few of the awesome folk out there who are on the pure genius level, but don’t get the big record deals for some reason. Ok, Chris Barron was in the Spin Doctors, I’ll give you that. But he is putting out great stuff as a solo artist too. Oh well, I guess as long as people are going to want synthetic crap for music, acts like the spice girls will still be around.

New CD from Chris Barron: Shag

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

I had the pleasure recently of picking up the latest CD from Chris Barron, the former (and maybe yet again?) front man for the band “The Spin Doctors”. If you haven’t heard of the Spin Doctors, you are either very young, or don’t get out much. In the mid 90s they were a hot item, one of the top acts on the air, and they were (and are still) great. One of the things I liked best about the band was the lead singer, plus I thought their songs were well written and quite catchy. Turns out that Chris Barron, who happens to be said singer, also wrote two of their top hits, namely Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong and Two Princes. So, when I found his solo album on CD-Baby recently, I had to pick it up. By the way, check out CD-Baby, they are awesome, great place to buy stuff from. I digress, I got the CD home and gave it a spin and it’s wonderful. It’s just Chris, his guitar and his voice. It’s an awesome CD, the songs are very well crafted and the vocals kick butt. I urge every one to go and get like 10 or 20 copies, it’s fun to listen to. I plan on getting a few more to give some to friends. If I find a CD a like enough, I don’t just lend it out, I give it to those that I think will like it. This CD is great, I give it five out of five fuzzles!

Hell yeah, Spin Doctors RULE!

Song: Margarita

Pick up my kid in a Jaguar
Drop him off in a Mercedes Benz
When you look over your shoulder
You’re gonna see me through different lens
By the time you get to Phoenix
I’ll be laughing in L.A.
By the time you find the right bottle of wine I’ll be sipping my Courvoisier

(Chorus)
Because revenge is sweet
But success is sweeter
I’ll take the salt from my wounds and put it in my margarita
I’m the new kid in the candy store
By the time you want me back
I won’t want you anymore

When my walking shoes were newer
You played me at your game
And when my tears were fewer
You put the sham into my pain
And when I’m wrinkling the sheets
With someone you don’t know
I’ll be using your cold shoulder
To chill the Veuve Clicquot

(Chorus)
Because revenge is sweet
But success is sweeter
I’ll take the salt from my wounds and put it in my margarita
I’m the new kid in the candy store
By the time you want me back
I won’t want you anymore

In for a penny, in for a pound of the flesh is weak
and the spirit is hurt
Even if the meek shall inherit the earth
Can’t wear your heart on your sleeve
When you’ve lost on your shirt

The Dog

Monday, January 1st, 2007

There’s fear and darkness all around you
The criminals are on the run
No use in hiding in the dark
I’ll hunt you down ’cause I’m the Dog

I’m the Dog
The big bad Dog
The Bounty Hunter
